Welcome to Novi, Northville Montessori Center
A place where natural curiosity
and imagination lead to discovery
in learners of all ages.
The preschooler is an enthusiastic learner who enjoys music and action. Preschoolers naturally create and sing new songs all of the time. It gives them a sense of joy and enthusiasm. Here at the Novi Northville Montessori Center, children are encouraged to experience the fun, joy, and confidence of singing and making music. At the beginning of the year, newcomers sing songs that they already might be familiar with. Gradually, they are introduced to popular American folk, traditional, and seasonal children’s songs which they might be hearing for the very first time. Music is ideal as they will learn new words and melodies. It also gives them practice in language, poetry, and other cultural information. By encouraging and fostering this experience, we can help children develop memory and cognitive skills. A lot of emphasis is placed on rhythm patterns. With the help of percussion instruments, they learn to make beats. They are also introduced to some basic music theory. By mid-November, children start preparing for the annual International Christmas Program. they give a 30-minute performance on stage. They enjoy this event very much for they get to sing in front of their family members. Every week they enjoy singing along with their friends and it gives them a sense of belonging.
